People like to use information that supports their views and disregards facts that don't apply it. Sometimes, we do not include ourselves in the same category. But you are wrong. Our brain blocks contradictory information on our behalf.
Research has found that we sometimes block out the facts that contradict our views without even realizing it. Certainly at that point, brain creates a black spot without informing us. This usually happens when we are confident about a certain situation which might be a reason that we won't change our minds on new information. This whole process is also known as confirmation bias.
For example, let's say when we continuously listen to our favorite song and we sing the same song with our friend but unfortunately, we are singing one line wrong and our friend is constantly correcting us with the right lyrics but we are ignoring him because we know we have listened to it so many times and sang it beautifully at every moment, and we can't be wrong. This is where our brain works that we are not ready to accept the right lyrics even when we are wrong because we are so much confident on us that we are creating a black spot on the situation.
Confirmation bias doesn't itself explain why people are so stubborn to change their minds. Nobody likes competition. Similar is the case with conflicting thoughts. It makes us uncomfortable. So when some new idea or a challenge, comes up with our own assumptions we tend to reduce the discomfort by changing our views, changing our behaviour, or sometimes labelling it as 'fake.' This may not only affect how we evaluate information that comes to us, but what information we seek.
These effects not only apply to a single person but to all of us.
All these situations explain to us that the Gulf of COVID-19 views, how quickly will economy reopen, whether we will move wearing face masks or not.
Let's get back to the example, I was given a choice whether I would like to change my answer that I am wrong or still I want to stick with the dilemma of being right. As I was confident enough so I didn't change my views.

Now here I will say, mask is the other alternative possibility we can take to protect ourselves like I had to correct myself. In this, we can take multiple options with us.
According to my opinions, seeing the situation of COVID-19, we should update our information and change our belief accordingly. But those people who have a certain belief will find it difficult to change their minds with new information that contradicts their opinions.
